How to Get a Comfortable Bicycle Seat – Tips to Save Your Backside!
By Rick C Kern

The bicycle seat is not the only part of getting a comfortable bicycle ride.

Your Leg extension, Hand position, Bike Seat angle, and nose width are all important factors in bicycle seat comfort.

Your leg extension is important because proper leg extension will shift weight from your seat to your pedals. This will put more weight on your seat which will cause your backside to get sore quicker. Proper Leg Extension will also give you more efficiency while riding so you will not tire as quickly.

Hand position is important because if your hands are really high or way back then all of your weight will be on your seat. With a lower more forward hand position you will also shift more weight to your pedals.

The angle of the seat is important because the slope of the area of the seat that you are in contact with will effect how the pressure hits your backside. Most of the time the seat will be set flat or with a slight downward angle toward the front of the seat. If your seat has springs on the rear you will want to point the nose down slightly so when the springs sag from your weight the seat will end up nearly flat.

Seat angle also affects how much pressure is on your hands. The more down you put the nose of the seat the more pressure you will be putting on your hands.

The width of the nose of the bicycle is important because if it is wide and your legs are rubbing on it while riding your can chafe the inside of your legs.

Your first rides. The first half dozen rides on your bike for the year should be for twenty minutes or less. Do not get out and spend two hours riding your bike if you have been off it for several months or years. Even if your bike and seat fit perfectly you will end up with a sore backside and will not want to get back on your bike for a while.

Remember Bicycle tire pressure is very important. The recommended tire pressure for your bike will be on the side of the tire. For wider tires like a 26 x 2 inch tire it will be a range somewhere between 40 and 60 pounds. For narrow tires like 700 x 25 it will be somewhere in the 90 to 120 pound range. With the high pressure tires you should air your tires up before every ride. With tires in the 50 pound range you should check the pressure every couple of weeks. If your tires are twenty pounds lower than they should be your bike will feel very sluggish and you will be much more likely to get flat tires.

These will turn your Mountain bike, Road bike, Cruiser, almost any bike into a Freight hauler. In less than two minutes you can go from naked bike to Cargo hauler. You aren't stuck with racks and panniers and stuff loading down your bike until you wanna Haul something. I have used mine for camping, hauling, groceries, laundry, you name it. I love it. They keep improving. Little extras like the water bottle braze ons are a great addition. The waterproof bag that fits is a great extra also. I would buy at least one extra skewer if you have more than one bike or more than one rider in the family that might use it.

Bob Yak and IBEX installation is the same

Bob Trailer Installation is simple. You replace the rear QR skewer on your bike with the BOB Quick Release. Then put the fork of the BOB Trailer onto the spaces on the QR Skewer. Then you put the little retainer through the holes in the BOB fork and swing it up under the little black nub.

The subject of sports nutrition has become unquestionably important nowadays now that the whole concept of sports has become evolved and has been receiving immense media attention. Athletes and spectators alike are now comprehending the weight of the status that professional sportsmen now carries.

This realization has pushed lots of initiatives to produce the latest and most effective in sports nutrition and training, not excluding those for extreme sports. During the old days, athletes have relied steadily on the carefree formula of fastfood fare and energy drinks.

Now that competition is growing more and more intense each day, athletes are now acquiring the expertise of sports science experts to make sure that they can maximize their physical and mental potentials to its outmost limits.

To have a better understanding of the efficacy and significance of extreme sports nutrition, one can look at the training regimen in motorcycle sports, one of the most popular extreme sports around.

A motorcycle rider takes in a lot of punishment in his body. Because of this, a rider must consider his overall physical fitness as much as his technical skills in competitions. He needs to establish hydration and stamina in his physique in order to keep up with the rigors of the motorcycle events.

It is not really easy to survive, let alone win, in a 20-30 minute contest under the most brutal of conditions such as extreme heat. It IS one of the most difficult factors that should be overcome in any kind of sport.

If one would monitor the vital signs the athletes during these contests, one could easily see that their heart-rates are performing at the most maximum level.

Sports nutrition is a major concern for motorcycling, since this sport involves competing in adverse surroundings under very extreme temperatures. Thermoregulation and hydration naturally are vital concerns.

Riders are faced with almost no time to hydrate themselves because an typical motocycle event lasts about only 20-45 minutes. It is very important then that motorcycle riders monitor their consumption of fluids closely days before the competition, paying close attention to those days when practices are held up to the qualifying rounds during the weekend before the main event.

Days before the competition itself, riders must take fluid, especially water, consistently in order to achieve and maintain a steady hydration level prior to the main event.

Aside from water, sports drinks must come in handy and must be ready in stock all thoroughout the race weekend. Sports drinks with electrolytes like sodium and with carbohydrates are particularly recommended. Carnohydrates will aid greatly in putting off the occurence of a rider’s fatigue.

The amount of sodium present in the drinks is a very important element for the regimen. Sports drinks will high amounts of sodium can give back the sodium that will be lost with the rider’s sweat during the competition. Also, the sodium will enhance the thirst of the body in order to make the cyclist drink more water during the course of the competition.

Motorcycle riders involved in heavy competition to strive to consume 20-40 ounces of liquid every hour during his time at the racetrack and must continue drinking about 20 ounces per hour after the track session. To effectively monitor hydration levels of a rider, he can weigh himself on the scales every morning and do so again after every session.

Two percent of the total body weight, and not more than that, should be eliminated, and it muse be replaced with 150 percent of the water reduced on that day in order to achieve maximum performance for tommorow’s session.

The human body is composed of up to sixty percent with water. A slight decrease in fluids can already have an effect on an athlete’s performance, specifically on the force capability of the muscles.

When the stamina and hydration levels is very well taken-care off, one can pruduce a powerful motocross champion who can manipulate and maneuver his bike at very high levels at the most stessful of situations.

So its extremely important that people, especially athletes, should not overlook the importance of drinking water and other fluids. This is very vital when it comes to competitions. It can be the factor that can make or break a rider’s road to victory.

The old way to teach your child to ride a bike by pushing them down the sidewalk is difficult and dangerous.

There are a couple of problems with this method.
Your child becomes dependant on you holding them up.
When you let go they usually look back to see if you are holding them up and fall down.

The safety issue is if they turn sharp while you are running with them they can fall in front of you. When you fall on top of them it hurts both of you. It is really hard to run while you are leaning down. Do not run behind the bike pushing your child.

The Easy Safe Way to Teach your Child to Ride a Bike

Start by finding a very gently sloping unused road or driveway. Take the pedals and training wheels off the bike. Remember the left hand pedal will be threaded backwards.

Safety Gear Required

Have your child wear long pants, shoes not sandals or flip flops, a Helmet, and gloves are all recommended. If they have some soccer knee pads that are not too bulky, all the better. Put the seat height so your child can easily touch the ground on both sides of the bike. Now let your child go up and down the gentle slope by using their bike as a hobby horse. They will quickly get the feeling of gliding with their bike.

Coasting down the Slope

Get them to go down the slope holding their feet a little ways off the ground. Do the same with your bike so they can see what to do. You can leave your pedals on if you put your seat down a little. When they get to where they can hold their feet up and turn the bike they have mastered a two wheeler. Play at this for a while and get them turning both left and right. Put some little rocks or mark with chalk on the road and use it as a slalom coarse. Add pedals and have them start by going downhill and pushing with their feet. Once they are moving have them start pedalling and they have it mastered.

Safely Teach your child to ride without training wheels.

Your back will not be sore, you will not have concrete burns on your hands and knees from falling over your child’s bike. This is easy and it works great.

You should have a bicycle car rack because terrific bicycling areas are always not within easy cycling distance. Carrying your bicycle on your vehicle is an excellent means to spread out your bicycling escapades. This makes it very easy to discover traffic-free streets, impressive trails or take your bicycle with you on vacations.

If you do drive regularly to bike, then you will be pleased to know about how recent bicycle car rack innovations have made transporting your bikes much easier for you.

Not all cars are can fit all kinds of bicycle car racks, which is why it is very important to buy the right bicycle car rack to fit your car as well as your needs.

Things to consider when buying a bicycle car rack:

• Your vehicle model. Generally, you can not find a bicycle car rack that will match or install two cars; therefore, if you possess two or more cars, choose the one car that you will most likely use.

• Your car load. Will you possibly be carrying 3 or 4 bicycles in the near future? How many family members are there, who are or will be joining you on your biking adventures? If you need to carry more bikes than you presently do, make certain to choose a bicycle car rack model with carry-load that is more flexible.

• Positioning of the bicycle car rack. Depending upon the model and make of your car, there are many bicycle car racks that can suit your needs several of these add more access or functionality to your vehicle.

• Durability. Spend your dollars based on primarily how long will you be using it or you require it to stay with you; good quality bicycle car racks can last up to several years, however if you need it only for a very rare trips, just buy the lower priced variety.

Familiarize yourself with your bicycle car rack choices:

1. Roof mounted bicycle racks. If positioned securely, roof mounted bike racks will carry a minimum 4 bicycles and can even accommodate more reliant on your car type.

This type of rack also can provide a utility for fastening a “roof-box” that can hold your sports equipment, luggage, and bicycles under cover, preventing bicycle damage with the clamped, upright position.

This type of bike rack is slightly expensive because of the benefits it brings and you may need to utilize a tiny ladder in order to get your bicycles on and off from it.

2. Front bumper racks. These bike car racks are normally not recommended and only are suitable for cars with a “high-front end”.

If positioned excessively high, these types of racks can get in the way with the driver’s vision. Take note that you need to confirm that these are accepted in your state, because in some locales, they are considered illegal.

3. Rear bicycle car racks. These are the most commonly used of all forms of bicycle car racks. Normally, you can carry 3 bicycles and it is attached with the use of metal hooks and straps.

As bicycles are usually carried very closely together, using “foam pipe-insulator” that this type of rack features as protective cover is recommended.

4. Tow ball bicycle mount. This type can carry up to 5 bicycles and is generally set up with a “square mounting post” placed into a “square pipe” attached to your car’s underside rear that tilt down if empty to permit for rear doors and tailgates.

5. “Rear ball-hitch” bike racks. This type of set-up usually can only accommodate a 2 bikes maximum due to limitations in weight and generally clamps against or bolt through the “hitch-ball” mounting outlet on the vehicles hitch tongue or bumper.

6. “Sports car interior”. If your car has enough room for it, this type is much safer and cheaper option as thieves have fewer chances of getting or stealing your bike or its parts.

You can buy brackets to make sure your bicycles does not move or swing around while inside your car.

Now that are well informed with the basics of buying a bicycle car rack, all you need to do next is to find a dependable dealership and ask recommendations or find the best bicycle car rack deals online.
